Setup for two systems

I am a newbie when it comes to home theater. First of all, I would like a receiver that has 5 or so hdmi inputs and 2 outputs (if applicable).

My ultimate plan is to have one receiver in my house for tv (all connected by hdmi), Xbox, Cable box, and bluray. I would also like to have the same receiver to run a projector outside for a backyard theater setup. I know most receivers that have two zones are usually just r/l stereo audio to outside speakers.

I would like to have 5.1 at both spots and have the audio going to either place. I think some receivers that have two outputs usually just have audio to one and then the other output is just for another hdtv screen, but no extra audio.

Please help me if this can be done or if there is another way without buying two receiver.

Buy two receivers. The first receiver can be a good dual-zone HDMI receiver which will have the amplification and all sources run into it. This will power the main zone and have switching for all of your sources to both the main zone and the secondary zone.

The secondary receiver is just there to provide power and audio decoding to the second 5.1 or 7.1 audio system.

I have done this in the past using two Denon AVR-3313CI receivers and it worked very well. The secondary receiver needs to be powerful enough to handle the speakers you intend to use, which means you buy what is appropriate to both areas.

Sure, but you still need an AVR with dual hdmi outs and preouts, plus a second 5 ch amplifier, like UPA-500 Five-Channel Power Amplifier | Emotiva Audio | High-end audio components for audiophiles and videophiles, spanning 2-channel music systems, as well as 5.1 and 7.1 home theaters. Products include multichannel amplifiers, stereo amplifiers, and and the components I listed above are less expensive and will work better... How about setting it up with a speaker selector and turn on either the inside speakers or outside? But I think cost wise you would be better off with 2 recievers, 1 good one and one cheapy for outside... They would be plugged into each other, but its going to be hard to get rite with out dual receivers..
