Setup for new theater room

Just wanted some feed back on my plans for a theater room in our home we are currently building. The room is about 13 feet wide by 23 foot deep. We are planning a sony hw 15 projector, 106in Draper screen, monitor audio rx8's with matching surrounds, marantz sr8002 which will power two zones for music, a jl fathom 113, and various bells and whistles.

Questions are mainly about the screen? brightness and picture, and the speakers. I heard them in the store and liked them but wanted to know if there were any other suggestions to try, it's not a huge store with a vast selection.

Thanks in advance.

With 13' width, and assuming a non-AT screen, the widest you'd likely want to go is about 8'. That leaves room for the speakers outside the screen without being slammed against a side wall and messing up their frequency response. What the diagonal ends up being will depend on what aspect ratio you're going to go with.

If 16:9, I don't think your original 106" diagonal is at all out of line.

ideally, one would want a front wall over 18'. but many cannot afford that. so, you do what you can with what you have.

my front wall is 12', 8'8" screen width. while my speakers are not away from the side walls, they are not right up against them either. and toeing them in helps.

i don't claim to have the best setup around (i am sure Bryan could pick it apart). but it is a very nice setup for what it is.

what i recommend doing = shoot on the wall for a while. adjusting the image size. this will give you a much better idea of what you will like. or better yet, go to home depot/menards/whatever, and get a 4'x8' of white board. prop that up on the wall. it will HOT SPOT pretty badly, but it will give a good idea for sizing. then, after you decide, take the board back.
