I just purchased my Yamaha 863 and it is paired up with EMP-tek speakers. (5.1 channel) I have the sub set at about 50% for volume and right around 80 for the crossover. Do I need to modify any of the settings on my reciever so that the sub and rcv. work properly together. I do not want the sub doing the work of the reciever and vice-versa if they do need to work together like that. I am running the sub with a 25' RCA cable. And to quote Arnold, "its not a monster"!

Anyone have any ideas?

Crank the x-over on the sub all the way up and set the x-over in the receiver's bass management.

Receiver setup.

You may also need to adjust the volume knob on the sub so it is in the same range as the other speakers. Start with the mic and auto setup, it will tell you if the sub volume is too high or too low. After this is complete, verify that all speakers are set to SMALL and that the crossover is around 80 Hz or 100 Hz.
