I'm a little late to the HDMI party...and its seems I'm not on the guest list.
I tried to hook up a Sony Bravia to an Onkyo AVR by using the receiver as the hub. I used HDMI cables from the Comcast cable box out to the Onkyo receiver, then from receiver out to the HDTV. I saw picture for a second, then it was gone. No sound.
I then gave up on HDMI cables (thinking maybe the cable box doesn't allow me to pass the signal through the reciever). I then connected the HDTV directly to the Cable box, then connecting the receiver to the TV for sound with standard audio cables. Now I have picture but no sound.
The TV was hooked up to a Denon via audio cables and an HDMI to the cable box, so I dont see why this isnt working.
Any idea what I can do to get both audio and picture with my Bravia, Onkyo, Comcast set up?
