Setting up new Sub with Receiver

I had my home theater system all set up but i had to excahange the sub (for the same exact one, different color to match my system) and now, the sub outputs very little if any sound. I tried going through the setup with the receiver (Denon AVR-2807) but it doesnt help. I played with nearly all the settings (crossover, volume) but they don't seem to help. Is there a reset button for the receiver that might do it? It is currently plugged into the LFE.

For clarification, you played with the crossover and volume on the sub or on the reciever? Your sub should have some sort of gain on it. Make sure that it is around the middle or there may be a mark that says something like "0" or "ref" or it may just be a mark "|". Check the input on your sub and make sure you are plugged into the correct jack, usually left mono. Also, in your reciever setup, under speakers, make sure your speakers are set to 'small.'

Try that, then if that doesn't help, try posting your specific brand and model sub.

This might seem obvious but, barring manufacturing issues with the new sub, the setting should not have to be changed. Ensure that the new sub has the same settings on the sub too.

The best will be to hook the sub up, and recalibrate the system below 200 Hz.
Basically ON THE SUB, keep volume at 50% of max, turn off the crossover if possible or keep it at the highest possible setting and if there is a phase setting keep it at zero. Now use the receiver's Audessy AutoEQ to fix issues.

Then tweak away to glory :D

Sub........... powered or non-powered?

Does your sub have a power amp ?
If not, you can't run it off the 'SW-pre-out' !
If so............ connect it to the 'SW pre-out', and follow the directions on page 57. You must also set the 'SW' to 'ON' in the speaker setup!
* most 'HTIB' do not have subs with power amps!

Just for clarification the "and now" suggests that the original sub worked but the new one does not. Is that the case?
