Setting up a new dedicated theater room

I have my own room now!:D After years of having to use the living room it's nice to have the luxury of a dedicated room. It is an apartment so any tips should keep that in mind. For example painting it black isn't an option.

I have 3 main concerns

1. Light control(I use FP)

The walls are the lovely standard white texture,
I'm thinking some curtains might be useful to cover the walls and the one window. Any suggestions. I'd probably be looking for a chocolate color to match the seating.

2. Noisy A/C intake.

It's loud and I'd like to reduce the noise entering the room from it while maintaining it's ability to pull air from the room. The positive side is it really cools the area of electronics well. It just make hearing the low dynamics difficult unless I crank it. I've seen acoustic spray and but I'm not sure how much it really helps a vent. This is Texas so slowing down fans is not a real option. Even 5-6 db would be a major improvement.

3. Treatment. I have a lot of shelves for diffusing almost too many. I tend to take a minimalist approach to room treatment, but some simple treatments will probably get hung. Which seem to have the best impact.

1) I'm not an interior decorator, so can't help there. I see something I like, figure it matches well enough and call it a day!

2) Is this the furnace in a closet style A/C? As far as I know you're SOL. If its more advanced and has multiple intakes, then find some soft cell foam or even felt and line as much of the duct as you can comfortably reach. You may also want to swap out the metal vent itself if you are experiencing 'port chuffing' check the subwoofer forum if you are concerned about tuning :)

3) From reading, corner treatments would be your best place to start for absorbtion. Obviously decoupling any subs would be advised for your neighbors sake. You already have some reflection to help create a spacious feel, you may want to experiment with its placement if possible. I think some of the online retailers offer a refund so you could try ceiling mounted diffusors.
