setting system up through HT receiver

I bought both the xbox one and the ps4 and I can not get either to play through my receiver. I can get the xbox to play through the receiver if I hook it up through the cable box but then I lose the functionality of my remote. Did anyone have the same problem? now I just have them hooked up directly to a tv in a different room. Going from hdmi out to receiver nothing happens but hdmi out to tv works fine

Have you configured the HDMI inputs correctly? Maybe the HDMI input number is mismatched with input name.

No I even pulled one out that had my bluray plugged into to see if it was just. Dead hdmi and still nothing. I wouldn't care about leaving the cable box set up through the xbox but the signal sucks then. Makes my hd channels look like standard def channels
