I have an Allen & Heath Xone62 - I am using the XLR outputs to Powered Speakers. The Powered Speakers are NX550P (Yorkville)

Speakers - http://www.yorkville.com/products.asp?type=29&cat=22&id=257

I have the volume on the speakers set at 0db (12 oclock)

The input of my turtable I have set properly with the GAIN on the mixer so that it is reading around 0db. I raised my channel volume. As soon as I increase the MAIN output of the mixer I get really loud sound from my speakers with volume levels set low on the mixer and on the speakers.

Are my connections wrong? should I not use the XLR?? very confused.. help!!!

Gain matching with pro and consumer audio equipment can be very different than staying within the pro world. (Or the consumer lines) You may have to do some radical stuff to get the gains matched up. You may want to look into an impedance matcher for the TT input.
