Hello all!! Ive been a lurker on this site for a long time reading various posts trying to gain knowledge and now I have some questions about my setup. There is a wealth of knowledge in here and though Im limited in my knowledge on this stuff I would like to say thanks in advance for any information people could provide me. Im not even sure if this is the correct forum to post this in but the problems never happened until I bought the new receiver.

First, I will tell you my setup. I have the Panasonic 50 inch Plasma TV (I believe the model number is TH-50PX50U but Im not at home to verify this), Yamaha 661 Receiver, Dish Network VIP722 HD/DVR receiver, HD Panasonic DVD player, Sony PS3, Mirage OMNISAT V2 Floor Speakers, and a Definitive Tech 10inch Subwoofer.

The problem Im having is that Ive attemted to hook everything up through my HDMI receiver but am unable to hear sound out of the TV. Everything has been coming out of my floor speakers which is fine but I would like sound out of the TV as well. The DVD player and the Dish Network receiver are plugged into the back of the Yamaha 661 to the HDMI 1 input on my TV. Am I supposed to use some sort of RCA cables to receive the TV sound? Additionally the PS3 is hooked up directly to the TV thru HDMI 2. In this configuration Im getting my PS3 sound from the TV but not on my floor speaker set up. Im thinking Im probably doing something wrong somewhere, but Im not sure. I was also thinking about buying one of those Psyclone HDMI switches to see if that would help me with my problem.

So with this setup what Im basically trying to get out of it is to have everything hooked up thru HDMI and would like the speakers to work on the floor and the TV.

Any help anyone could provide would be very much appreciated. If any additional information is needed I would be very quick to reply to it. Again thanks in advance for any information.

-Andy

If I'm reading this correctly, you want your DVD player, satellite DVR, & PS3 to be connected to your Yamaha 661 via the HDMI cables. You've got 3-HDMI devices and only 2-HDMI inputs on the receiver. You will probably need to buy some sort of HDMI switcher to accomplish what you want. You can then run 2-devices through through the switcher and into one of the HDMI inputs and run the third device into the other HDMI input. To get the sound to be output to your tv, you need to go into the menu and look for "HDMI"(can't remember where it is in menu, I'm not at home to look). It's there and shouldn't be hard to find. Anyway, set it to "Other". This should output HDMI sound through to the TV.

In your current configuration, you will need to connect an audio cable from your PS3 to your receiver if you want sound output from your speakers. I don't have a PS3, but is there an optical output or something you can run to your receiver?

There is another possible solution for you. Connect your satellite DVR to your TV via component cables with an optical cord to your receiver for sound. Then, you can use the two HDMI inputs for the DVD & PS3. Whatever you decide, I would recommend having the PS3 connected to the receiver via the HDMI so that you could take full advantage of the high-def audio formats.

Good luck.
