An honest answer.
It sounds like they said the Bose remote is a magic bullet that can do everything.
Most of us here aren't familiar enough with the Bose systems to offer advice on what it can control and how to hook everything up. Your best bet is to thake the advice of the Bose customer service people or the salesperons who said that it can do everything you want. At least then you should be able to return what you don't need.
Frankly, I'd be surprised if it could but I'd give 'em the benefit of a doubt and try what they say.
But, this is what I see as far as the connections so far.
"coaxial cable from aerial socket on wall direct to rear of TV" This will allow the TV to tune in stations off the air. This is of no use for the cable TV stations.
"an HDMI cable to go from the VS 2 to the back of the TV" This sends a video (and possibly audio of some sort) to the TV from the VS 2, whatever that is.
"optical cable from rear of TV to Bose media center for audio" this most likely sends digital audio from the TV stations received over the air from the TV to the music center. Again, this is of no use for the cable TV stations.
"SCART cable to do something but I forget what???" ...sends a video signal from something to something else.
good luck...
