I was thinking about getting a separate DAC for several reasons. My friend suggested I try another source because my system is sort of giving me a headache, also I wouldn't mind getting a good DAC so I can have a digital stereo in my room without getting another high priced receiver.

I am leaning towards the M-Audio Super DAC, it seems to be somewhat reasonably priced. Another option is the Benchmark DAC-1. Obviously I'd prefer the cheaper one. I'm under the impression that after a certain pricepoint the sound should be the same. Does anyone have any experiance with the above products?

I currently have the option of the Rotel 1056 doing decoding of SPDIF coax from the computer, or an external Creative USB live 24 providing analog. I've been using the Rotel which has a noticable noise floor with digital signals, its a tossup, but I think it may have a fuller sound though. Either way I'm thinking I could use an improvement.
