Carolyn's brother had a MI yesterday. He was able to drive to the hospital which was just a couple of miles from his place of work in a small town outside of Fort Worth. He was quickly stabilized and transported to a heart center in Fort Worth where he was taken directly into the CATH Lab. He had 100% blockage in the 4 main coronary arteries and high blockage in the diagonal arteries. They placed stents and a ballon pump for a quick fix and he will undergo a Coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) on Monday.

Please keep Mike and the rest of the family in your prayers.

Thanks guys.

Greg

Greg, I'm glad that he was able to get to the hospital and that they were able to stabilize him in time. You and your family certainly have my prayers.

Best wishes and I'm sure the surgery will go smoothly. Working in health care (as a support worker:eek:) Cardiovasculary surgery seems to have made huge advancements in procedures which help speed up the recovery process that you & Mike will be watching the Big 12 championship game in a few weeks:).

All the best, Bill:)

He's going to make it, Greg. Anyone who can have an MI and still get to the hospital on their own should be in pretty good shape. Hearts and the people that own them are pretty darn tough. Best of wishes to Mike and your family.

That's actually a photo of me after I got out of the hospital after my very own MI. Burnt to a crisp by >20 defib attempts at 300 Joules each.

And see...I'm still here, almost 20 years later, still buggin' folks. That's why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!! I always try to deliver my thanks to those wonderful med people who saved my bacon. :)

For Mike...a positive outlook and attitude is the very best medicine. How is he doing today, Greg?

Wow, you have been through the whole thing yourself.

His spirits are high right now. We should know more about the damage today as the echo was done yesterday but I didn't get to talk to the Doctor. CABG is scheduled for tomorrow.

I admire and totally respect your outlook on life. At times, I find myself overwhelmed but then, I read things such as this and think I really have NOTHING to gripe about.:eek: Thank you for giving me hope-even when things look bleak. God bless you! :):)

Cheers,

Phil

Mike's CABG was finished around 8pm last night. He is still on the ventilator and heart pump this morning. They said he had a lot of heart damage and also had some old damage from a earlier MI that we didn't know about. I will spend more time at the hospital today and get more details.

Thanks for the prayers!
