My contractors will be starting the teardown and build of my basement Home Theater Area in about 2 weeks and I am going to have it pre-wired for my HT with built in Rack.

SIDE NOTE: What is your taken the Home Theater Drywall that I started to read about?

Home Theater Space
22(L)x18(W)

- Budget: up to 12-15k(max) for all Speakers (including Subs) happy to spend less if it makes sense
- Rest of Gear I am open on Budget, but not MacIntosh sized budget :). Will use current gear until HDMI 2.0 PRE/PRO comes out
- Using existing Amps
- Cable is going to be all BJC (Speaker / Interconnects)
- 2x Dedicated 20AMP circuits unless more is power is required, but I don't think I will need extra

Areas I am looking for guidance on:
1. Suggestions on 4k Projector Screens (Motorized)
2. 4K Projectors - I have only considered Sony at this point due to dealer
3. Speaker Suggestions if I decide not to go with Golden Ear Triton 1s
4. Home Theater Seating Suggestions as the ones I like are really expensive

Current Build Plan:

VIDEO
SONY 4K PROJECTOR: VPL-VW600ES

SCREEN
SCREEN INNOVATIONS BLACK DIAMOND 4K SCREEN 1.4 MOTORIZED

AUDIO
- Using Integra Pre/Pro until 2014 Refresh w/HDMI 2.0 Pre Pro (Marantz or Anthem if they have refresh)
- Using Existing Parasound Halo A21 A51 as I just bought and don't see a need to upgrade
- Will go with a 7.2 configuration unless 9.2 would be better, but my space is not that big

SPEAKERS:
- Golden Ear Triton 1 (Mains)
- Golden Ear SuperStat XL Center
- Golden Ear Triton 7 (Surrounds)
- Golden Ear Triton 3 (Rear Surrounds)
(List is about 8k all in: I am going to wait until I can actually demo the 1s, but they should be in dealer by June)

Other Brands Considering:
- Revel F208
- FOCAL 1028 BE (Not sure of cost on these, may be out of budget)
- If I go with these brands I will have to go with separate subs (SVS 13 Ultra)

POWER
• Furman Elite-20 Pfi (Already have purchased dirt cheap)

RACK
• SANUS CFR2136 70.5

SEATING:SALAMANDER
• SALAMANDER MATTEO 2 ROWS OF 2 SEATS (MIGHT GO 3 X 3 )
o SEATING IS REALLY EXPENSIVE OPEN TO OTHER SUGGESTIONS

Any input would be great

Thank you!

18' x 22' x 9' room? Very nice size. My family room is 18' x 20' x 12'.

It seems pretty big until to add all the furniture and HT components. :D

For 7.1 speakers and subs, I would get 6 RBH SX-8300 towers + 1 RBH SX-661C center + 3 Dayton SA230 amps to actively bi-amp the 6 towers for about $10K. This would give you eighteen 8" aluminum actively bi-amped subwoofers placed all around the room. It might give Gene's $50,000 RBH 8Ts a run for the money. ;)

The beauty is that no one will even see a single separate subwoofer. :D

A single 12" subwoofer can rattle the 4 walls in my 18' x 20' x 12' family room, so earthquake bass is not an issue.

If eighteen 8" subwoofers is too much, then perhaps get twelve 8" subwoofers (get four SX-8300, instead of six, and get a pair or SX-61 for surround sides + SX-661C center). This would put the cost around $8K.

My dimensions are correct shorter 9' ceilings

- I will have to take at look at the RBH's I will have to take a 40 mile drive to Mokena IL as that's the closest dealer to demo them
- Is sound proofing drywall worth the extra investment?

If I were going to this level with a dedicated HT, then acoustic treatments and bass traps would certainly be in my budget.

Tritons for surrounds, kind of overkill. How about the SS 50 instead? Save the cash for the acoustic treatments.

I got my motorized Berklines from a guy named Roman from AVS Forum. I paid about half what it would've cost at a local furniture store. Great communication, and I emphatically recommend giving him a call for recommendations. His contact info can be found at www.rtheaters.com

Here's a pic of my seats when I first got them:

Here they are after several years of heavy daily abuse and many naps:

He also sells kinetic transducers if you're interested in those.

I think sound proofing is worth the money.

I would NOT buy any acoustic panels and bass traps for my house. But if I ever build a custom HT or house, I would soundproof my HT room for sure. :D

I would also try to claim tax deduction for energy efficient home improvement. :D

BURN BURN BURN the WITCH!!!! LOL!!! :D.
The Salem Sound Panel Witch Trial. :D

So if you have heard an improvement, then you will believe in this witchcraft of acoustic panels.

I have not heard a quantum of improvement. Therefore, I do not believe. :D
