Seismic 10 anyone????

Ok I did a search, and man-o-man I can find stuff on the Seismic 12 all day long but not much of anything on the 10". Does anyone have any actual experience with this particular model? I know it uses the same amp (1500 RMS 4600 peak.. did my lights just dim??) but what does it sound like? I have an offer for an awesome deal on a brand new one, but as of yet have not been able to hear it, I did get to hear the S8's oh my....... they were simply awesome. But I really want some first hand experience on the 10 if possible. There are tons of reviews on the 12 all over the web, but for the room it would be going in it (the 12) is overkill, hell the 10 probably will be to. I know I do not need the 12 though. Musicality is the most important factor for me, obviously HT is important as well, but music is more important for me. I have listened to the Velodyne SPL II's but I can get this Seismic cheaper. Any input would be appreciated for sure, especially from those of you who have actually listened to one.

Thanks in advance.

I owned the Seismic 10 and 12 both. hopefully you're getting a very good deal and are mostly interested in movies. lots of competition out there are their price-point. They seemed much more suited towards HT than music. I actually started with the 12, had disappointing results, and quickly moved to the 10 hoping for better integration with my music but never found the syncronism I was hoping for. They are true ball-busters for movies, thats for sure. In their defense, many reviewers think they are great subs for BOTH music and movies and if you are getting a killer deal, go for it!

I've heard the Ultracube 10, a little different then the Seismic, and I didn't like it. Very boomy, and the radiators make audible slapping noises.

I don't know if the Seismic suffers from this, but I think there is better subs for the money.

Thanks. Couple of questions for you kgb.

What exactly did you not like on the music side? Were they not able to match the music, say individual bass notes etc? I have a really great sub now the Martin Logan Dynamo, which for music is really awesome, it is just a little shy on output. But was the 10 specifically just not musical to you? Or was it just not a good match for what you had?

Concerning the output of the Seismics was there really a huge difference between the 12 and the 10. And does the 10 have scary output on HT if it is cranked up a little?

Again thank you very much for your input, any descriptive response would be greatly appreciated Sir.

Thanks Sheep a question for you as well.

I remember (and tried to find with no success) a post a while back where you provided a link to a huge page with tons of subwoofer test specs, someone was looking at a Def-Tech supercube and the "Claimed" freq response. You provided a link to this page with again a ton of actual tested specs. Can you hook a brother up with that link again .......... please.

Thanks again for your response, it sounds like a good deal but I do not want to spend more and end up with less if you know what I mean.

The biggest problem I had with the subs is that they would always call attention to themselves. bass definition was another issue. I was contantly messing with the volume control and experimenting with postioning. They produced a bass that seemed unnatural to me for music. To be fair, the only sub I have ever heard that absolutley NAILS bass integration is the Voce Divina Contrabbasso (passive woofer). Sheep also touched on a good point with the radiators. when pushed hard, they do make noise. If I needed a sub exclusively for movies, the Seismic 12 would be in my top 5 for subs under $1700, but not #1. Please dont take this opinion to indicate that the Seismic subs arent very good, these are just my findings. Remember, listening and sound are subjective to the person. you may love the way they sound, I didnt. Quite a few reviewers spoke highly of them and Paradigm has a great reputation of building outstandng products for the money. its your call!!;)

Thanks guys

As I stated earlier I just can’t find much on the 10's. And I would be livid if I went and spent more and came out with something I liked less. The Dynamo is a supremely musical sub and for the most part it can do the HT duty as well I was just looking for possibly a little more oomph while still keeping the musical ability. Kgb did you experience the slapping from the radiators on yours or not? And I know that your thoughts are subjective as you stated, I am simply hunting for input though so believe me it is appreciated. If anyone else has something to say please chime in as well. In the long run I may be better off with what I have. I really like the new sealed SVS SB-12 plus but I am trying to do a swap-out the same day so I am not without a sub in the BR. Thanks guys and thanks specifically for that link too Sheep.
