Hi there!
I would appreciate any insights you would have re two possible B&W speaker set-ups
I will be using the speaker set with Yamaha's RXV-2600 receiver, and Yamaha's DVD-C950. I'll watch lots of new-release movies, but also listen to quite a bit of "old" music on CD's (i.e., 60s, 70s, and 80s hard-rock and pop albums). I'm also just getting into SACD and Audio DVDs... This set-up will go into a medium-sized living room.
Although I am willing to spend to get a good set-up that will last me up to 10 years, I am trying not to break the bank at one go...
My options are:
DM604 S3 (front left & right)
LCR600 S3 (center)
ASW 650 (sub)
DM602.5 S3 (rear left & right)
Street Price: about $3,000
Some considerations on the above set-up are: (i) given that I'll be listening to "some" SACD and Audio DVDs, should I get the DM604 S3s for both front and rear? (add about $650); or (ii) Should I not worry so much about getting "perfect" play out of SACD and Audio DVD, and stick with DM602.5 S3?; or (iii) Switch the freestanding 602.5 S3 to the DM602 S3 bookshelf speakers? (reduce price by $100 - the difference in price between the 602 and 602.5 is nothing if one is going to buy the B&W speaker stands for the bookshelf speakers!).
Or, is the 700 series so amazing when compared to the 600 series?

For instance:
703 (front left & right)
HTM7 (center)
ASW 700 (sub)
704 (back left & right)
Street Price: $6,500
Under this second scenario, I can't really afford the 703 for both front and backs (just too much $$). The other considerations are: (i) get the 704 instead of the 703 for front left & right (deduct $750, and have a matched foursome of 704s for SACD); or (ii) get the 704 for front left & right and the 705 for back left & right (deduct a total of $1,400).
This is all a bit of a mouthfull, but I'm really torn between shelling the extra bucks for the 700s, rather than the 600s - are they worth the extra expense? And then, I was also wondering what is the experience of other people with respect to mixing and matching such speakers given a wide variety of content (i.e., CDs, DVD's, SACDs, Audio DVDs, etc.).
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
