Seeking advice for rear speaker placement - electrical panel in the way

Hi. This is my first posting in this forum. I'm putting together a home theater system in my newly finished walk out basement and need assistance in placing the rear speakers. I was thinking about going with a 5.1 system. My problem is that there is an electrical panel that is smack dab right where I was going to place one of the rear speakers. Please see attached diagram.

I've marked two possibilities in the diagram. The first is for speakers marked "Rear1". The downside of this is that the speaker near the electrical panel would be slightly in front of the main listening position. I'd prefer not to put this speaker on a stand as it would be one more thing the kids could bump into.

The second possibility is for speakers marked "Rear2". I've been reading that the ideal 5.1 placement for rear speakers is on the side walls. I wasn't for sure if I could still pull off the same effect by placing them on the back walls.

Also, if there is any advice on what kind of rear speakers (dipole/bipole, etc.) would be optimal in the ideal situation, it would be appreciated.

Finally, I was wondering if there is any possibility of placing two additional rear speakers to make it a 7.1 system to the rear of the couch. Unfortunately, there is only 4 inches between the couch and the back wall and I could possibly only negotiate moving a few inches towards the tv with my wife.

Your help is appreciated.
