Currently, 6.5". However, I can remount the TV higher, giving me up to 8.5" between the bottom of the TV and the entertainment center. The KEF should fit in that scenario. I think they're worth checking out then. Hopefully available in your area. The Q350 is common, though you may find it harder to audition the centre. They include grills and should have the flat black look that your spouse is after. Some stores may have a free return policy allowing you to demo in-home.
