The BS-22 use cheap drivers and a 2nd order crossover (If I remember correctly), it's not going to look perfect. I wonder what the Bose, BIC America, and Sony speakers for super cheap looks like? Probably not even close. These are $129/pr, I didn't expect them to measure like the Salon 2 or Philharmonic 2. Considering the price, I think they measure very well! :D

I use my BS-22 (than you, Andrew and Chris!) everyday and I am more than happy with their measured performance.
I would not call tha Pioneer drivers cheap, cheap. I have owned and
listened to some Bics, Sony and Bose. >>> The Pioneer regardless
of pricing, has overall better build quality and crossover work. >>>
The Bose and Sony are really cheap looking, and the Bic not much
better - however, the Bic sounds better than Bose or Sony. >> The
Pioneer towers are gone - however, I still have the BS22.

Some Bics have 2 element crossover, Some Sony's 3 or less, mainly 1.
The Bose mainly 1 or 2 element, with power protection on the tweeters.

Good sound does not connote accurate sound, but, the effervescent thread on the new towers certainly has my interest piqued.

I believe the towers to have a good sound and accuracy, their sound does denote accuracy when compared with speakers that I have that are accurate, to me they are very articulate. The 22's sound way beyond their price range, accurate, I think:)

Im wondering.
Would the difference between sp bs-22 compared to the SP-FS52?
I like the towers, should I get them instead of the 22s for my room?

I would get the towers if you listen at higher volumes, and they are quite attractive and fit in with any decor, get them with a pair of the 22's and compare them as mains, see what you prefer with various music tracks. If you prefer the 52's keep them as mains and the 22's as surrounds and all you would need is the CC. If you are not planning on a 5.0 setup take back to BB what you don't want, very easy transaction.:)

OP:

I think the AJ Pioneer are gonna be very hard to find in your location.

I think this is still your best option. If shipping isn't killer, I'd go with those. :D

My favorite budget speaker >> and they sell all over, is the
Cambridge S30 speakers. They are not a wimp and they also
have good bass response > and are coherent sounding with
music. >> If you still want to go passive and with a receiver,
then check them out.
S30 bookshelf speaker

They will pancake the Logitech speakers. And they also measure
decent in stock form. The all around reviews are good.

How would they run compared to the sp bs22?
Also, amazon doesnt ship those to Europe, you said they deliver all over, know any website?

Also, shipping on amazon is so high.
The Sherwood RX-4105:
Items: EUR 85,76
Shipping & Handling: EUR 50,92

Total before tax: EUR 136,68
Estimated tax to be collected: EUR 0,00
Import Fees Deposit EUR 31,44

Order Total: EUR 168,12
That exceeds the Denon AVR 591 price, really.

Any better ideas for European shopping?

accessories4less.com has some amazing deals. I wish I could find something like that in Europe, I can't seem to find stuff I want to buy at all.

They have better quality drivers and a better built cabinet.

While it is not a head and shoulders difference - this is how
the S30 sounds to my nit-picking ears compared to the BS22.
They sound more rich and realistic to me. They have a more
detailed midrange, with better definition > and a more tight
and controlled bass > and while the BS22 tweeter may sound
more vivid, the S30 tweeter has more definition. > Also they
image better to me, and have a more focused central image.

I was not talking about Amazon shipping, Cambridge is global.
Look over at the right side of the page > there is a dealer in
Portugal, contact them for some info.

Check Ebay, for online deals from France or England.
You may have a chance to find a decent receiver.

I just called the dealer in Portugal, they got the s30, I'm getting them from him.
So the speakers, are picked.

Need to find a receptor now, I like the Sherwood 4105 but I couldnt find any in Portugal, yet. I tried ebay but they won't ship them to Europe.

I also need to know which cables I need to connect the receptor to the computer and the s30 to the receptor.

Thank you everyone for the help and the useful and fast replies.

I am searching for used receptors in Portugal.
Resquesting some help here, since I know nothing about the subject.

Would any of these have enough quality to feed the Cambridge s30 while being able to connect to my computer through HDMI?

Av Pioneer VSA-D802S CellBazaar : Used HomeAppliance SoundSystem : Pioneer VSA-D802S Amplifier with remote control (600 Watts)

Pioneer Stereo Receiver SX-339

Sony STR DB 830

Should I get a receptor with HMDI ports, or there is other way of connecting them to the computer besides HDMI connections?

OK, it's been 77 posts so far. It's about time we got this straight.

Maybe i'm just anal, but it's "receiver", not "recptor ".

It's almost seems as if you're not listening to a word anyone is saying. Hmmmmm... Where have we run into this before?

Now that that's off my chest but, depending on your sound card, you should be able to run a digital link (either toslink or coaxial) bttween the 'puter and the receiver.

With any computer with an earphone jack or line out, you can run an analog signal with a 3.5mm to dual RCA cable.

check your manual.

While I would prefer something with HDMI, > If one is on
a tight budget, and if the price is good - then the Sony DB
series receiver, can work for you.

markw, answered about hook-up options.

Now as far as speaker wire, and since wire is cheap - I prefer
standard, 2-conductor stranded copper speaker wire.

LOL I think that was you being a bit anal. :p :D

What makes you say that? Because he calls a receiver a receptor? He just said he called a dealer and he's going to pop on zieglj01's suggestion. If that's not listening, I'm not sure what it. :D

This is how I have my receiver + PC hooked up. I have a poop sound card so I get that stupid "your electronics are noisy" hum. I need to buy an external sound card. If the OP can find a receiver with HDMI in his price range, I would go for that, as there will be no issue with analog noise.

OTOH, even if his sound card is poop, external sound cards are not very expensive and the receiver without HDMI could be significantly cheaper. :D
