Are there any well respected speakers that use acoustic suspension or sealed design?
Thanks

Thanks!
I'm looking at bookshelf speakers between $500 to ~$1000, but I am also just asking out of curiosity.
It seems surprising that Paradigm would switch to a different fundamental design just for that one speaker - in the middle of the ported Studio 10 & 20 and the ported S-2!

I know SVS and Emotiva offer acoustic suspension (sealed) speakers in that price range. Also Boston, Cambridge and many others....

Alot of manufacturers go this route, with close wall or cabinet boundaries in mind. Some ported speakers perform better when farther away from boundaries.

NHT classic series....

As mentioned, Emotiva and the entry level SVS...

The Ascend Sierra has plugs specially designed to create a sealed enclosure while not killing the woofer's low end abilities....Dave F of Ascend said this moves the -3dB to about 60Hz.

Many of the speaker manufacturers who subscribe to the THX design philosophy use sealed designs as they tend to yield the 2nd order slope on the low end that THX calls for.

Snell, MK Sound (formerly M&K), Atlantic Technology - they all offer several sealed speaker models.

The Ascend HTM-200SE is a sealed design. And of course Orbs and Gallo.

NHT was one of the chief proponents of suspension designs.....suspended business earlier this year and now back per some post here....I loved the old Advents of the 70s....good design for small rooms with modest amps where high volume not required...
