Well after reading some of the nice HTPC setups you guys have I am curious what your screenshots look like. Call me weird but I like checking out other peoples setups and "borrowing" ideas.

I'll be polite and start with a pic of my current configuration.:p

Hmm, mine would be not nice to post. Because I am not married, I kinda keep porn up there. But I just started from scratch again, and added 16 more MBps for the HDD, and almost doubled my frame rates for the VGA...

EDIT:: BTW, it looks as though you have way to much in the start-up bar. Not the quick launch. So all of those programs running in the start up bar is costing you serious performance.
Not my opinion, its just plain fact...
I think you could double your frame rates, with absolutely no overclocking...

EDIT #2:: BTW, nice talking with you Matt. Hopefully some of my tips help.
Once again, be leary of 18yr old advice... I was once there, and it was all about overclocking...
No disrespect Sheep:p
But anyways, I've been doing this since computers were in DOS syntax stage with 2 colors (Black & White)
Hmm, computer classes were not advanced enough for me... Hence Computer class sucked..

If anyone can guide me through the process to capture a (good quality) Desktop screenshot to Photobucket, I'll submit mine!

Easiest way is to download a program called Snag-it. Very, very easy to do once you have that program with photobucket.

Use almost any photo program. And just hit print screen on your keyboard.
Then open photo program, click new file, then click paste.

Thanks Matt34 and, of course, Brian32672. ;) I have Photoshop, but as you may have gathered, am no whiz with computers!

Anyway, here is my present Desktop.

Hey, what can I say? Minimal, minimal, minimal. This is me down to a tee (sorry for the let-down Matt).

Regards

Oh, but if you want to see many wondrous places like this, I can show you! :) :) :)

Oh no, I'm not falling for that one again!! The last time a Scot invited me to see the highlands I ended up with a whisky hangover and my kilt around my ankles!!

Ok, I will post one. Its not one that I normally use, but I have used it before.
I try to keep it clean looking, also nothing unneeded in the start-up.

That's a stunning picture buckle-meister!!

Brian called me up after I'd posted that screenshot and gave me a good lecture about unnecessary start menu programs.:p

I don't usually have alot of things running but as I told Brian I had added/deleted quite few programs that day.

Come-on now, where's the rest?:D

Ok, by chance I went to the Disney store. Yeah, I like that store.
And I always thought that Dory was real cute. So I went ahead and got her as well a Nemo.
Yeap, they are on the sub....

Nice photo, swashBucklemeister. Did you take that yourself, or is that someone else's vision of your happy place?

Re: whiskey hangovers - whiskey has a tremendous amout of malt and, hence, sugars. Physiologically, I have no idea what this does, but drinking a lot of sugared booze will punish. Wanna assure no hangover? Drop a shot of Tanqueray 10 (or your favorite gin) into a tumbler. Add one ice cube. Drink. Repeat. Once the ice melts just a little, it's pretty tasty. And, no nasty sugars. I guarantee* you won't get hung over from this.

On the flip side, if you want to see how bad a hangover can get, drink wine then follow with scotch. Oy vey, please kill me, or something along those lines with your own, special flair.

Pfft! I took it of course. :) I was only a little way up Sgurr Mhor when the clouds broke a little and 'a moment' occurred. Hastily, I whisked out the camera and got the shot.

The photo will more than likely appear very dark if you happen to have a deep-backed monitor. My own is much thinner and depending on the angle I view at, the photo is lighter and has fabulous presence. Naturally though, no matter how good the photo, there's nothing quite like seeing such vistas for oneself.

Yes, I know. My old man works in a Whiskey Distillery. ;)

How do I get mine down from 1280 x 1024 so it will fit? Then you will see a masterful background... :)

Edit: Ok, This is the picture I use, just throw some Icons on it and you have my background. :)
