Heres the set-up: There is a local discount furniture, car stereo, and home theater store. The kind of place that guarantees "credit to anyone, regardless of rank*". Not the kind of place you'd expect to carry PSB speakers and NAD electronics.
Turns out after years of sluggish sales, they are dropping the whole home theater shebang. People are going to Wal*Mart to buy $300 HTiBs, and people who actually do spend real money are buying internet direct. Even the shop manager has Axioms if it tells you anything about the market.
So I go in to buy a kitchen table, and what do my eyes see? A sign for an unadvertised PSB/NAD sale. 50% off! Sweet! I check out the showroom: The whole Alpha line-up, some Image towers (T45 & 55, no 65's), and a subsonic5 subwoofer. Not ordering any new stock, whats on the floor is what they got. So I ask if they have any Stratus series in the back, cause for 50% off I could get the whole "Paramount Theater" (Silver
i fronts, 6i center, Stratus mini surrounds), no dice.
Then some guy from the car stereo dept. shows up "Are these what you're looking for?" With a box of brand-new Platinum M2 monitors! Thank you sloppy stockpeople!
PSB Platinum M2 : $1999 msrp
PSB M2 stands (M2's have a rounded bottom that require special speaker stand): $499 msrp.

You may all be jealous now
*Its an ARMY town, thus the "regardless of rank".
