Sceptre 42" LCD $1799 at Costco until 6/18

I'm not sure how good the tv is - it has a couple things I like, apparently it's decent as a PC monitor (gaming), and it has P-in-P.

The few reviews I could find were mixed.

That's a large LCD, and an impressive price for a 1080p unit. The best part of that deal is that it's from Costco. They'll take anything back, anytime. Nice post.

Trying it

Well, I took a deep breath, wondered a few times if I'm crazy to be buying the Panasonic projector *and* an LCD 42", and bought the Sceptre just in time.

$2,037 with all expenses included, sight unseen, and mixed reviews from 'outstanding picture quality' to 'needs tuning badly out of box' to 'sucks'.

Why this unit, when I'm not really satisfied with any tv picture I've seen yet?

Well, the value is there at $1,799 plus $64 shipping and sales tax, when others are mostly selling it at $2300-$2500 (exception, 'tiger direct' has it on sale for $1900, no sales tax, $100 shipping); it has a reputation for good PC gaming with 1920x1280 (I think) resolution (though I'm not sure if I may prefer PC gaming on the Panasonic larger screen for the wow effect); and it has HDMI and 1080p.

We'll see. Any comments for newbie buyer slowly bulding the pieces for HT are welcomed as usual.

Anything from why i don't need both, to why it's the wrong unit for a good picture, to 'you should have waited for (HDMI 1.3 or something else) to reassurance, etc...
