I'm always looking for new jazz players, especially for those whose sound is more like jazz-fusion, PMG-like, so I came across this 2 groups that I highly recommend: E.S.T. and Tord Gustavsen Trio. I've bought all their CDs I found available, 5 and 3 CDs respectively. I wouldn't know how to describe each one of them, but for those who like piano players, Lyle Mays or Bill Evans-like, you won't be disappointed.

Hey Demetrio: tudo bem???. I speak some Portuguese 'cause I lived in Sao Paulo for 4 years.
I saw your posts regarding ECM recordings. Tord Gustavsen Trio is (are) a ECM artist you may want to check out.
Terje Rydpal I've heard about him but I have never listened to one of his records. I will now and I let you know how it goes.

Olá, Caupina, muito prazer!!! :)

Very glad to meet someone from South America over here. By the way, I'm a huge fan of the Chilean band LOS JAIVAS!!! Awesome mix of Andean folk music with progressive rock, specially their brilliant "Alturas de Machu Picchu".

As for ECM label, I consider myself a huge fan of their cast too, especially of these names:

- TERJE RYPDAL
- KETIL BJÖRNSTAD
- DAVID TORN
- JAN GARBAREK
- STEVE TIBBETTS
- ARILD ANDERSEN
- NILS PETTER MOLVAER
- JOHN SURMAN
- BUGGE WESSELTOFT
- EGBERTO GISMONTI

I even started another topic here, some days ago, about this subject and it would be great to see you posting something there too. Here's the link:

What kind of music you like, besides jazz???. I'm a big fan of Brazilian music. My all time favorite is Ivan Lins. I love his work. I also like Caetano Veloso, Djavan, Gal Costa (nice voice).
I'm not that much into the folkloric music of South America (I call it "Musica Andina"), but I know Los Jaivas are very successful. I was (still am) a lot into the Latin rock of the 80's, Soda Stereo, Virus, Friccion, GIT, Miguel Mateos.

Caupina,

I consider myself quite eclectic musically. Some of my favorite genres are Progressive Rock (also Indie & Post-Rock), Jazz-Rock/fusion, Ambient, New Age and Brazilian music.

When it comes to Brazilian music, some of my personal favorites are Antonio Carlos Jobim, Edu Lobo, Guinga, Eduardo Gudin, Chico Buarque, Duofel, Uakti, Egberto Gismonti, Milton Nascimento, Elis Regina nd Jane Duboc. Ivan Lins, Caetano Veloso, Djavan and Gal Costa are great names as well.

Cheers,
Demetrio.
