Which would you recommend? Looking for a good receiver to replace my current Denon AVR-486. She's old but still working great. What kind of a difference will I see between the old receiver and the new one sound quality wise? I'm torn as to do I upgrade or use the 486 until it dies. Not doing 4K or 3d right now and the 486 doesn't have any hdmi ports so I'm using an optical audio from TV to the reciever

2 Polk Monitor 60 fronts
4 Polk Monitor 40 surrounds
PSW505 Sub

X4000......$1299
SC-75......$1099 on sale at bestbuy

Check around...
Pricing on Pioneer & Elite products has been cut drastically due to the Pioneer announcement of selling off their home audio product group.....
Though warranty & service may become an issue in the future...

Just my $0.05... ;)

Definitely, Denon over Pioneer - I would also highly recommend to start investing money into new speakers, for starters new lcr.
Your Denon from HTIB - is actually not bad specs - 75 very honest and clean Wpc - this is not bad. Matched with right speakers - it could be quite loud
Keep it around until you must switch to hdmi as new AVR will not provide much better sound as much as new speakers could, there are big improvement in sound processing, especially in X4000 series, but still you want to start with good speakers first before trying to fix them with processing.

Had no Idea about it, thanks for the heads up
Funai Corp is a possible buyer - It could be worse for Pioneer, but I doubt we will see anymore of AJ designed budget speakers :(

my vote will go the denon X4000. Quit hard to beat that price point w XT32 + subEQ + pre-outs. ;)

I vote X4000 from accessories4less. If you're looking for a sound quality improvement you might be better off shopping for speakers instead of a new avr. But as far as avrs go, Audyssey XT32 with Sub EQ HT is about the best automated room correction you can get.

I've been leaning towards the X4000 from the begining but thought I'd ask. I acutally just bought these speakers when they were on clearance becuase they were being replaced with a new model. I know they aren't the best in the work but compared to the HTIB I had they are a lot better. There is nothing wrong with my current Denon except I have to run it at near reference level to get decent amount of sound out of it and there is no HDMI (Also it's 8 years old so I'm not sure how much longer it will last). Thanks for the heads up on Pioneer selling their home audio line I didn't know that

The center (I forgot to mention above) currently is a Polk CS2. Sorry the fronts are Monitor 70's not 60's

I know these speakers aren't the best in the world but they are the best I could get for the money I spent (at least I hope so)

I'm torn to keep my current reciever and run it till it dies or upgrade to something newer.

Definitely get the Denon from my perspective.

Prices on the Denon may be dropping soon as well as the newer model should be introduced later in the later.
