I've been trying to hook up my computer to my reciever, yet I can't get any sound to come out. I plugged into the 3.5mm Digital Out mini plug on the back of the sound card, and into the Digital Input jack on the back of the receiver. I adjusted the settings on my computer according to other sources, and I can't hear any music playing from Windows Media Player. Any ideas on what is wrong?

Here is an image of Digital Input that I plugged into (upper right of the image).

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have PC speakers plugged in now? Should they be unplugged?

Does your sound card have an analog rca out that you can run to your analog rca in on the receiver to see if that works?

I would think you'd need an ultra high quality sound card for a digital coax setup.

There should be an option in the Creative setting to use the digital-out on the card. Also, make sure your SPDIF volume isn't muted, and make sure it's plugged into the right port on the rear of the soundcard. It's easy to ge them mixed up, especially when trying to work from in front of the computer. :)

Have you tried using the analog outs? Do they work ok? If you want 5.1 surround sound in most games, you'll have to use the seperate 5.1 channel connections.

Yeah, I've posted on creative's forum but no response yet. I've also emailed Yamaha and am waiting for their response. In the mean time, I was wondering if anybody here would know, so I posted here.

I don't think the analog will work for this receiver.

Also, I don't really play games, but I use my computer for mostly music and a movie here and there.

It sounded so simple to. Connect the digital out on sound card to the digital input on the receiver, and there you have it, but it don't work. I might just have to wait and see what Yamaha says.
