Saw an owl on my deck

Yesterday evening, as it was beginning to get dark, an owl came to my deck and hung out for about 15 or 20 minutes. I think it was eyeing the squirrels and chipmunks. They hang out near the bird feeders to get whatever drops.

The squirrel didn't seem to be threatened. It hung around, but had a lot of angry words for the owl. So did a Blue Jay that remained safely protected by a leafy tree branch.

The owl appears to be a Barred Owl. It was very patient while eyeing the squirrel, but it did look directly at me as I took photos

An Owl woke me last week, but I really didn't mind- it's good to have a variety in the neighborhood. One flew over me while I was sitting outside- probably had 5' wingspan and it was totally silent.

I've not had an owl visit me like that, altho we have plenty in the surrounding forest. Nice shots!
