Saving digitized LPs at higher res

Because I'm using an external DAC to home audio system for playback I'm looking for software that save the audio file at higher resolution than the normal CD rate (24-bit 44.1khz). I'd like to save files to 24/96 or even higher.

Running MacBook Late 2007 OS 10.7.5.

I have Spin Doctor/Toast 11 Titanium but I'm unclear on what its upper limit is. And I've seen not so good reviews of Spin Doctor.

Also have Garageband But what program will allow me the highest resolution saved file? I see some also save FLAC files but not seeing sample rates specified.

What is the DAC? You can only A/D what the hardware will allow.

It's a Denon DA-300USB, so it processes up to 24-bit 192khz and DSD audio files.

Anything higher than 24/96 isn't worth the disc space (can't hear it anyway), assuming your A/D is good enough to begin with. BTW, CDs are 16/44.1 (not 24/44.1). I "ripped" alot of LP's to 16/44.1 years ago (using a PC soundcard) and got good results by carefully monitoring line-in/record levels.

You don't A/D convert at higher rates because it sounds better, you A/D convert at higher bit rates because it makes pop, glitch, hiss removal infinitely easier.
