Save me from the HT blues :-P

Hey guys,
So I posted a thread in the general a/v forum about my theater losing its luster with the addition of a bean bag. Unfortunately...or fortunately...the bean bag must stay, so I'm going to have a carpeted floor...big cushy couch....and big absorbent bean bag...all on my floor.

I'm wondering if going dead floor live ceiling would be terrible? I know it's supposed to be the opposite. If it is, could I deaden the ceiling and liven the walls with diffusors or something so my room doesn't go completely dead and soul-less.

Thanks,
Dave

What is the room like? Dimensions? Other treatments? Doors/windows?

Sorry Dave - didn't catch your moniker right away.

With a low ceiling, being soft up top is preferable but if you have to have carpet, then I'd probably not - except potentially right over your head for height related issues.

As for diffusion, it could work on the rear part of the side walls but I don't think you have the space looking at the drawing again. As for the rear wall, you're not far enough away to really make it effective.

Hmm, alright. Thanks for you help as always Bryan. I suppose next month I might pick up a set of your diffusors and play around with the rear side walls. I think I can fit them above the window...

Sure - if you want to go high and get rid of some of the 'zing' that can happen up there - that'd work even on the rear wall up high.

I just didn't want you to try them on the rear wall more at ear level to get a more spacious sound as there just isn't enough distance.
