Satellite Speakers to Hang over Bed Headboard and use as Stereo Mains during Slumber

I like to fall asleep to my music, but sensitive neighbors mean I can't have my music running through my bedroom mains during the late hours. Since earphones are less than optimal, I've considered placing a pair of some small/non-obtrusive satellites w/ respective stands on the sides of my bed next to the headboard. Again, I'm looking for clearity, volume & bass are a non-issue. They'll be running through a Marantz SR7000. Considerations at the top of my list are a pair of the:

-Gallo Micro or Orb speakers w/ stands

-JML Sibs (with Hip stand)

What do you guys think, and if you have any other I should consider, please let me know.

Thanks.

Interesting idea. Can't you get the same effect by turning down the volume on your mains? Also, if your receiver has some type of night siltening mode, it would help reduce the dynamic range. If you can find a comfortable pair of earbuds, it would probably be much more cost effective.

Since the speakers will be physically closer, a lower volume level will achieve the same SPL level at your ears. Just make sure you don't roll over onto one side while you are sleeping, you will only get Mono sound! :D

On the cheap you could do a pair of HTD outdoor speakers or really, any brand of outdoor since you could mount them right to the wall and most are pretty small.

Anything inexpensive will work fine. I have a bose CD wave radio I inherited which I use for this.

I have this same issue, im 22 live in a town home with 55 year old neighbors who have a 16 year old kid. They offically stoped talking to me because of my garage door opening at 1 am...
So here is my question to anyone who has sensative neighbors. Wouldn't you rather just buy them ear muffs? Or buy them a ceiling fan to help cope with the noise. I seriously dred this problem every day of my life. Ive never actualy watched a movie at a enjoyable listening level for 2 years!

I hear you foam and deeply sympathize. My growing obsession with audio has led me to a revelation:
Next time you're moving into some place, make sure of two things:

-a jacuzzi

-thick walls

At least we're learning early of these things before making a more "permanent" move

Perhaps that MajorLoser guy will let us just move into his basement, I think he needs somone to watch his projector while he is gone to make sure it doesnt burn out or accidently get left on.

KEF 3005 satellites would be a pretty good choice. They run at $500 retail.
