If you've been following LCD/DLP for the past few years, that is a read you just gotta take a look at. I'm sure some DLP fans will go nuts over it and dismiss it for some reasons.

But, I would have to say that when a $2,000 projector was put up against a DLP unit costing about 4 grand more, it did a bit more than barely hold its own.

It just blows me away how much LCD has improved in the past 3 years. I think TI has been enjoying a cash cow with DLP and may be in for a world of trouble in upcoming years from both LCoS and LCD technologies looking better and costing less (or coming down in price).

Where's my true 1080p DLP front projector!?!?

Very interesting test

I was very pleased and surprised by Evan's analysis. To me the best news is that pressure that will be put on price points in the future.

I have to confess to being much more of a sports and live event fan than a movie buff so I lean towards that brighter picture. I am also amazed at the apparent quality that affordable projectors now have. It wasn't long ago that when pricing projectors I kept coming up with $10,000 or more for an HT projector I would install. Now I can get the same quality and light output for $3000 (or less). Soon 1080P projectors will be in the mid 5's and I can make a long term investment in one.

I don't care if it is DLP. LCD or what, I am after a great experience and good quality
