Hi, I have a Sanyo PLV Z5 connected to a playstation 3 via HDMI for blu-ray movies and an Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on for HD DVD movies through RGB computer input. Both look spectacular on the Z5 in high def but when I play a standard DVD on either the PS3 or 360 then the picture(edge) looks fuzzy. Both players upconvert(the ps3 through a recent firmware) the DVDs but it looks terrible.....I have read in reviews that the Z5 does great with standard def stuff but this sucks!.....is there something I can tweak or I'm just stuck watching high def stuff?......I want to watch my old DVDs but not if it's fuzzy on the Z5.

I have never seen the Z5 in person but if it is true that it does a good job of scaling standard definition material then you are completely bypassing what may be a better scaler by allowing the 360 and PS3 to do the scaling. Try setting the output from the PS3 or 360 to 480i or 480p and play a DVD. If things improve then the Z5 has a better scaler.

thanks.....I'll try it, hope it works...I have a lot of old DVDs and didn't want to purchase the Oppo if the ps3 does the job
