Sanyo PLV-Z5, How about a candle light or two?

:) Ok so I'm thinking of getting a projector and so far I have been given advice on the Sanyo PLV-Z5 and Panny PT-AX200,

I'm leaning towards the Sanyo cos of the great review about it and the price is better than the panny.

The only issue is that I read that it has to be complete dark to get the best out of it. The wife does not like complete darkness :) , hence the question. Will a candle light or two affect the picture quality of the Sanyo. Killing two birds with one stone thereby adding a touch of romance when watching movies :) .

PS. The Sanyo is not a match that catches the eye. I mean admire it just on looks. How many of you audiophiles base your purchase on the looks of an equipment? ;)

I had a PT-AX200AU and had many problems with it (along with others on AVS Forum) and I exchanged it for an Epson Home Cinema 720 and absolutely love it! Not to mention they have an overnight replacement policy so there's no down-time and it comes with a free bulb.

I have two of the Z-4's and love them. A candle would not make a whole lot of difference in the picture quality IMO. We usually leave a soft light on while viewing with no issues.

HT Lighting

No problem with a few candles or other dim lighting. It sounds like you have a dedicated room with good light control.

Front projection is less suitable for a family room type environment where you might be trying to watch TV or a movie during the daytime and cannot make the room "dark" due to the ambient lighting from several sources.

Thanks for the info guys. this helps alot. I do not have a dedicated HT room. I just live in a nordic country where the winters are long and dark. So light control will not be such a big problem.
