Hello! everyone,

So today I found this ad in Kijiji about a sound system Samsung PS-CTWZ312 and it was cheap.. I got it for 50$CAD and I was happy until I got home :crying: .. as I a have no experience with sound systems! it turns out that the speakers and the subwoofer need a receiver to be attached to my tv!!

So I'm really confused on what to do to make them work .. I wish if you guys can help me to find the best CHEAP solution to make them work on my TV.

is there a way to connect them directly with a converter or something?
is there a CHEAP device that I can buy that make work?

Thank you in advance guys.

I can't find any documentation on your system but if they are just speakers, nothing else, You need a receiver, pure and simple.

where are you and what are you prepared to spend?

I think you got scammed.

They look to be part of some sort of HTIB, probably illegally rebranded. To boot the electronics is missing. I really doubt Samsung had anything to do with those speakers.

I would not invest in any electronics to try and make them work. There is a very high chance they will blow anything up connected to them and you will be out further money. Also a receiver will not power them as the sub is passive, which is common in HTIB systems

My advice is to dump them straight off at the nearest recycling center before you are out more money.

There is no cheap way to test them. You would need a receiver plus a separate power amp for the sub.

However if you connect to those speakers, you have a very good chance of destroying the receiver and amp.

That speaker system almost certainly belonged to some type of Home Theater in a Box system.

For some reason these systems frequently have very low impedance speaker systems which spell a quick death to standard AV receivers.

So before you do anything you would have to invest in a speaker testing system to see what you have. I don't know what you have and nor do you. The model number you quoted is not a Samsung number, but came out of the back of a criminal's neck.

Those type of systems are always lousy and not worth any money. They blow up soon after purchase as rule and sound awful.

To buy a testing system to measure the impedance of the speakers will cost you $100 US. A receiver a few hundred more CND and a power amp for the sub another $100 at least.

That junk you got scammed with is just not worth it.

Get that junk to the recycling center fast before you really have something to cry about.

At the moment you are only out $50 CDN which is pocket change. If you mess with those speakers you will be out more then ten fold that fast far more likely than not.

Frankly I fail to understand how you thought you could buy a surround system for $50. That should have screamed scam right away. You can't do what you want for anything close to that.

Good decision!

Now learn from this. Carefully research every purchase you make on the NET. There are criminals around the corner and under every stone of the NET.

If you used a credit card to purchase that system cancel it now, and get new cards.

I think there is a very high chance the main reason for this scam was to get your credit card details.
