Posted this over at avs and didnt get a response so hopefully someone lurking over here has the answer...

Hey guys trying to decide between the 4051 and the 4092. I personally did not notice a difference in picture between the two at the store. I will be using this for 80% games and 20% movies.

Has anyone else compared these two tv's? Im really on the fence with which one to get. Other than the contrast difference is there a reason to get one over the other for gaming?

The 4092 also has a CCFL which according to Samsung is,
CCFL stands for Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp, a kind of fluorescent light. CCFLs, provide a wider range of colors than other kinds of lamps used in LCD TVs. For example, the CCFLs used in Samsung LCD TVs provide 92% of the NTSC color gamut (range). Bulbs used in most LCD TVs typically provide about 82%. The percentage refers to the coverage of the color standard set by the National Television System Committee, which provides technical standards for display products, broadcast equipment, and video signal level in the United States

The 4051 has the CCFL also as far as I know unless someone else knows for sure otherwise...

Has anyone compared the two in picture quality?

I have a 3251 and with HD it makes a beautiful picture, with HD DVD even more beautiful. The hard part is watching SD tv...looks so horrible.

I know that didnt help, but I am very happy with the 51. I bet the money saved could get you something real cool too.

PS when/if you do get it, play with the energy savings, I found I like mine best off or low, which should help bulb life as well.

Well if energy savings are off or low wouldnt that mean that the backlight is on higher. Energy savings on high would mean you are saving energy by having the backlight turned futher down. Is this wrong?

You are correct. I believe the difference between off and high is about 100w.

Just checked Samsungs website again. Only the 92/95/96/97 series has it.
