Hello everybody, I haven't posted in quite some time, namely due to getting married and starting a new job. As a side effect of getting married my budget for a home theater is not nearly what it once was due to cost overruns. Namely, I went from wanting a Sc-25 and a full Aprerion 6t setup to something decidedly cheaper.
I have been thinking presently that I should just invest in a good stereo receiver since I would rather get two good speakers than five mediocre ones. As such, I've been looking pretty strongly at the HK 3490 which got a good review here and a pair of Aperion 6B bookshelf speakers to hopefully be used as surround speakers one day.
However, I was perusing the web and came across the Samsung HW-C700b receiver. I didn't even know Samsung made receivers. Seeing as I am quite happy with my big ole' samsung LED tv and dont hate my Samsung blu-ray, would this be a good angle for me?
Before I saw the Samsung, I was thinking I would upgrade my blu-ray to a oppo 83 or 80, then use the optical to the HK 3490 to take advantage of its supposed great DAC's. I will likely upgrade to the oppo in any case.
here's a link for the Samsung. thoughts? it seems light at only 18 pounds, but they claim to use a patented digital amp....
