I am interested in purchasing a 46 inch DLP TV. I now realize that Samsung offers both these models and I really do not know what is the difference. Can somebody help me?

I know that one has the smaller frame and that is good but the one with the larger frame seems to be a newer model and I am wondering if it has the newer Texas Instrument DLP chip.

This is the one I recommend, I had a chance to look at one inside and it has an easy layout of the boards with easy accessability, I don't know if that means anything to you but, if you ever need repairs in the future it will make the repair easier for the service man.

Besides the technical aspect of it, this TV set has an excellent black scale with brilliant colors and contrast.

Stay away from HLN models it is there 2n generation.
I own the hlp 4663w it 3rd generation with the HD3 chip and it is awesome.
The forth generation HL-P4674W whic has the HD+2 chip is supposed to be even better, I havent seen it in stores yet but might upgrade to it.

ManleyGun is correct. You want the HD2+ chip if you can get it...or wait a while (months or years) for the xHD3 chip TVs to show up. The Sammys that I know of with the HD2+ chip are those with model numbers (the numeric portion only) ending in 74 or 85. The 85's are the pedestal TVs and the 74s are tabletop. I'm waiting for a 46" DLP with a built-in ATSC tuner (for my dad who gets his locals with an antenna) that is under 47" wide.
