Samsung HL-R5087W 50" opinions?

Just wondering if there is a good reason to avoid this TV. A sale ends tommorrow from TigerDirect - $1700 +free shipping. I haven't found enough information on this model specifically to keep me from doing it. It needs to play mostly movies and a playstation with some satellite tv.

The viewing area will be about 15 feet away in a large white living room with a couple windows. Not too bright, I wonder. Not sure what other information I should be posting, so any help is gratefuly considerered.

My only concern is the chip it uses - Cinema Smooth Gen-5 HD??? http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/DLPTV/HLR5087WXXAA.asp?page=Specifications
I don't know what else to worry about. There must be a reason why they are getting blown out the door like this. I saw at least two other dealers around the same price and I wonder why.

Thanks for the input. I was asking for a coworker (here in Iraq) who bought the TV. He won't even see it until he goes home (Colo Springs) next month. But he is excited about the sheer size of it alone so I hope it does what he needs.
