Wal-Mart sells these same players for $350 and $450 respectively.

IMO, the Panasonic is better, as it has 5.1 analog outputs. I think it looks nicer as well.

The Panasonic's 5.1 analog outputs are only useful if you are dealing with a DVD or playing Dolby Digital (+), DTS (HD-HR) or PCM tracks. The Panasonic DMP-BD30 does not internally decode Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA.

The Samsung is profile 2.0 ready. That's something to consider. DTS-HD MA decoding? Only if you bitstream it to a receiver.

AFAIK, the only current players that can internally decode DTS-HD MA are the ($700) Panasonic DMP-BD50, the ($400+) Sony Playstation 3 and the ($2k) Denon DVD-3800BDCI.

I've owned both Sony and Panasonic BD players, and I liked them both.

I would pick them both over Samsung.

The Panasonic DMP30 can send bitstream to your receiver for all the TrueHD/DTS-MA decoding and you can get it right now.

Will I be able to enjoy the HD sound with my VSX-1015, if I get one of the new blu-ray players?

I own this player if you have any questions. It has an ethernet port, which was something I really wanted. I plugged it in 2 days ago and downloaded a firmware update, it went flawlessly. I have only watched a couple bd's on it though, and I don't have my speakers yet for my 7.1 so I can't report on sound yet. But soon I will be enjoying 7.1 and all the HD audio formats, decoded by my receiver. It bitstreams everything.
