Samsung 67A750 LED DLP

I just purchased the Samsung 67" 750 LED DLP. It's quite an improvement over my 61" Samsung DLP purchased in 2004! I've been very happy with the picture, HD is amazing! Standard pic is very good, and it has quite a few picture controls without going into the service menu. I added a little bit of bias lighting, and I think it makes it look even better! I was also able to turn down the light intensity by doing this (from medium to low-- the LED light is plenty bright.) I was considering a Kuro elite, but for 4 grand less and 7 more inches, this is a great alternative! I've had no geometry or tilt issues, and the set has performed perfectly so far.

I'm jealous. I've been eyeing the 61" version for a month or so now. It's been tempting when Best Buy had their 40 month financing, and even Amazon has had 36 month financing for them. I would replace my 3+ year old 56" Samsung DLP in the media room with it, and move the older DLP to the living room where the 36" 250lb CRT is. Of course the CRT works fine, and we don't really need a new TV, so my wife isn't going for it. She doesn't want to just recycle the 36" for nothing. She did say however if I could sell it for $75 or more then I could buy a new tv. I don't think she was serious, but I wonder what she would say if she came home some day and it was gone and she had no tv to watch...

Gosh, I'm getting so close to getting this tv now...
I put the 36" CRT on craigslist this week, figuring if I could sell it this week both Best Buy and Circuit City have 3 years financing. A few days ago, I was taking measurements, and suddenly realized that the older 56" DLP that I want to move to replace the CRT is 1/8" too tall for the built in cabinet.

Which means I may not be able to move the DLP and replace it with the 61" LED version. I left the CRT TV listed anyway, and wouldn't you know it, I got an email tonight from a college kid interested in it and a couple of other things. Of course the 3 year financing will probably not be available this week should I sell it tomorrow.

So, anyone have any suggestions on how I can shrink my DLP by 1/8 of an inch, or do I just put it in the cabinet at an angle? Or just buy a plasma for the built-in and stick with my DLP in the media room? My wife would like that actually.

I wonder if I should tell her about this before she goes to work tomorrow, or just let her come home and see how she reacts to not having a tv in the living room anymore...

This set is great for the price, but after owning a 61" HL-S model, I'm very skeptical about getting a set with perfect geometry (it bugs the hell out of me).

Well, I am typing this post on a 61A750, the little brother of the tv mentioned above. I sold the CRT for a couple of hundred, plus a few other items to a college student, went out and picked this up after my wife got home from work. Ah, the joys of 36 month financing. And I managed to fit the other DLP most of the way into the built in, it sticks out a couple of inches, the width of the frame basically, which doesn't look too bad. However, if I can sell it for a decent price we will and get a smaller tv for there.

Anyway, so far so good with the new LED DLP. I haven't really done much for calibration yet, but it looks great, the blacks are much blacker than the older dlp. No geometry problems that I've noticed. HD local channels look fantastic, as does the 360 and pc gaming. So far the only thing I'm not thrilled with is watching dvds from the pc. Haven't figured out why yet or how to improve it.
Now I'll need to figure what the most efficient way is to move to blu ray (have an older HK 235).

For the money and size, I think these tv's are hard to beat, especially with no bulb to replace. I just hope the LED's last since I didn't buy an extend warranty.
Now, I just got to figure out how to deal with this really tiny text that I can barely read from the couch...
