I'm about a week away from purchasing a new LCD, I've narrowed my choices to the following,

Mits 46244 or 52244

Sony 46XBR4 or 52XBR4

Sharp D92U 46" or 52"

Tosh 46 or 52177

Sammy 69 series in a 46" or 71 series in a 52"

Here's my question, if you could buy any of these sets and get one that didn't have any of the issues that plague some of these sets, I.E. Sharp=Banding, Mits=Strobing, Tosh=Green push, Sony=Clouding and Sammy=TBE,
which set would you get, also which set is the least likely to have one of these issues.?

Thanks.

I have a Samsung 4671 and I can tell you that the TBE is overrated. I've never seen it. Occassionally, I do get some stutter on video based sources, but turning off or turning down the anti-judder processing solves that problem. Impressive black levels for an LCD and picture that jumps off the screen and decent speakers(2 built in "subwoofers").

Sony or Mitsu if it was me. All the Samsung has going for it is the smooth motion thing and it looks like crap to me. PQ on the Sharp is not that impressive when comparing the others and a lot of the Tosh have problems with green push so you may or may not get one that has it. But if I really had to pick one I would go for the Mitsu. Very impressive set considering this is Mitsubishi's first major stab at LCD.

The early shipments of the Toshiba had green push. I had a 52LX177 from Thanksgiving to mid-December and it did not have green push. I returned it for other reasons, mainly that SD quality wasn't so great and that is somewhat to be expected but having never owned an LCD before I just wasn't sure and figured I'd better return it within my 30 day window.

I saw the current Sharp D64U in a friend's house and could easily see the banding when the screen was all grey during the delay between switching channels on his satellite dish. It's hard to see though during normal viewing. The menu text is very small and hard to read from my 12 foot viewing distance too.

I don't like the looks of the Samsungs at all and the menu system was not intuitive when playing with it in the stores. The Sonys are equally butt ugly in my opinion.

So I've concluded that the Toshiba was the best of the bunch. I was going to just order another 52LX177 but they have new models coming out supposedly in February. I decided to wait for the 52XF550. It adds a few features to the 52LX177 that may be useful.

I've had the Samsung LN-T5271F for ~ month, the colors and picture are great for a lcd. I've noticed a slight (very slight) amount of motion blurring that I didn't notice on my friends 4671. Not a apples to apples comparison though. He sits about 10' back, I'm at 7' so I really notice a lot of small details. I haven't been back over to his place with the same movie to see if his does the same (was watching 3:10 to Yuma, BD via PS3). Otherwise, no picture complaints. Price was great too, $2600 at CC.

Personally I like the motion enhancement (or whatever they're calling the '120hz' stuff), but only on the low setting. Any higher and things start to look either fake or like home video to me.
