Safe to assume Old Velodyne driver 8 ohm?

Hello,
On a related note to my last post... I have removed the 12" diver on my old Velo VA1215 and it's not labled whether it's a 4 or 8 ohm speaker...I know now-adays they make 2ohm, 3 ohm etc...But this is a somewhat 'Old school sub'

I am sure it would be safe to buy a 8 ohm and test it out...but I would like to be sure to safe time.

The only label on the diver is '71VA12' , 'w12WL7E-1', & '3525'

any takers on what I am looking at.

BTW...I am just going to test a driver from a local store to see if I have any luck...If it sounds like crap, I will just re-cone the driver...Just don't have the motivation to do it yet..

Hi. I've looked around for a while, and I can't find that info for you. I did find a repair foam kit for that driver, though.

I'd suggest that you contact Velodyne or call Orange County Speaker (at 1-800-897-8373) and ask if they know.

Thx...I found the same repair kit. I know it sounds lazy, but I'd really prefer to just slap some 12' driver for hundred bucks or so in and see how it sounds...

I hear ya! I wish that I could have found that data, but I couldn't...and I don't know what to assume on that driver. Orange County Speaker might have that data, but I couldn't find a replacement driver recommendation, so they might not have it listed in their files.

Not sure if it's the Velodyne, but I have found most sub drivers to be 4 ohms.

thx...I actually HOPE the impedance is 4ohm. Much easier to find those locally. I TRIED to contact Velodyne via 'Contact Us' on their website... Gives me a 'Server error' when I hit submit when sending the question... jeez!
