have a Denon AVR-2807 with a Denon DVD 2910 connected via HDMI both are HDMI/HDCP compatible units but when I play a SACD disc I keep getting stereo (2-channel) sound. The AVR2807 shows "ext in" and "multi" however, no matter what button I push the DVD 2910 shows only the "L,R" speakers and when it begins to play "sing" appears on the screen and the sound is two channel stereo (no sound fron the center). Can anyone help me.

As far as I know, even the current generation HDMI is not compatible with SACD. To listen to SACD, you need to use either the analog outputs on your player on the Denon-Link.

At least I have found out I am not as dumb as I thought I was. I hate HDMI it is wasting my time . You all know how you can get hung up on trying to solve a connection problem. How the problems relate to cable boxes I knew but also SACD!!!

Also, if you haven't already done this, when in your 2910s "other setup" screen, be sure to select "audio" under the "Player Mode" selection. Otherwise, your player won't recognize SACD or DVD-A formats. You're not any dumber than the rest of us here...

You'll have to wait till HDMI 1.3 before it will pass-thru SACD. I have the 3910 DVD for this very reason. Also for the new DTS formats, Denon-link will pass-thru, I hope.
