:D will an SACD player make regular CD'S sound better. Looking for a used one. Any brand suggestions?

No. It's not like upscaling DVD players. A redbook CD is, was, and always shall be a redbook CD.

If you're looking for multi-channel, does your amp have multi-channel analog inputs?

What he said. CD and SACD are separate tracks even on SACDs and the player knows which is which, so redbook CDs will play exactly the same as they always did.

980 is a good choice for the price. I had one and it was a good all around player.

If you want it specifically for SACD and music, that Oppo would be a great buy.

Of course, if Blu-ray is needed than that's a different issue, but Blu-Ray players are a dime a dozen. SACD players aren't.

Yes DVD only, but a good upscaling player if you are watching DVDs. If you want blu-ray, you'll have to check various models for that capability. Sony, Panasonic and Yamaha all had various players that had it and weren't terribly expensive. From Oppo you'd have to step to the BDP-83 or 83SE.
