You will be able to play DVD-A and SACD on the 3803 using analog connections. That is most people do it; there are very few receivers, the 3805 being one of them, that have a digital link for that purpose. However, with Denon, you are limited to using their DVD-5900 right now for a digital connection; their Denon-Link is proprietary. I had a Denon AVR-3802, and my DVD-Audios and SACDs sounded awful with that receiver. I have since purchase a Yamaha RX-V1400, and I am much happier with the sound of the high-rez audio discs. I think it has to do with the fact that the Denon is much less detailed than the Yamaha, and detail is what you are looking for with those discs. Good luck. By the way, the Yamaha has their new YPAO, which stands for Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimization, which will even out any response anomaies in your room or from different sizes or brands of speakers. Then Denon AVR 3805 has Denon's own system for the same purpose. Good Luck
