2 main questions:
1) Do i need a receiver with 192khz/24bit DACs in order to play SACDs and DVD-Audio disks or can I use DACs in my player (and if so, how?)?
2) What kind of cables do I use to connect the player to the receiver? Are they just regular stereo connectors?

Thanks!

Hi
If you have a receiver that has a direct multi channel input
you will need 6 analog interconnects to connect from your DVD-A/SACD DVD players analog outputs front right, front left, center, right surround, left surround and subwoofer to your receivers Multi Channel input

Thanks. Now I know I use analog interconnects.

What about 192khz/24 bit DACs in the receiver? Necessary or can I use the player's?

It's my impression that if you're using the analog interconnects, then the D/A conversion has already been made in the source, using all the electrical components there. Until the big wigs work out digital copyrights you won't get the chance to use the D/A components in your amp.
Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong

Also,

In addition to the 6 analog cables for DVD-A/SACD, you will also still need to connect a digital sound cable such as a toslink (optical) or digital coax. And a video cable of course. That's 8 (eight) total cables, minimum. 10 if you use component for video. A lot of people forget that you need analog for DVD-A/SACD plus digital for normal DVD and CD playback.
