SA8300HD using HDMI

I have had 2 SA8300HD receivers from TWC for about 16 months now. One is in the basement hooked to a Denon receiver, Klipsch 5 speaker system and a Mistubishi 50" rear projector HD TV (the 8300HD connects to the TV with HDMI cable, audio goes through the Denon). The upstairs TV is hooked directly to a Samsung 32" tube TV (no receiver etc) via 5 cable component hookup.

The TV and 8300HD box connected to the Samsung works just fine.

The 8300HD connected via HDMI has been replaced 3 or 4 times in the last 16 months. I get many "lockups" of different types:

1. Changing channels causes the 8300HD to lock up requiring a reboot.
2. Changing channels causes a alternate gray screen and program screen every second or so.
3. Changing from watching a recorded program back to "normal" TV causes a lockup requiring a reboot.
4. Today, while trying to watch the start of EPL soccer on Fox Soccer Channel, the box rebooted itself 4 or 5 times. I wasn't even touching the remote, just watching the game.

Have others had these problems? and have a "solution" ?

Thanks

Kevin

Im using an 8300HD with HDMI also, There were two times when Ive turned the TV on and the on screen language was all in jibberish, Turning the tv off and then back on fixed it, Im not sure if it was the TV or HD box but It had never done that to me before I had this box.

I have also noticed that on some stuff with the 8300 hooked into our theater that its like the signal is being overdriven. However im using component out in that setup.

There are a few common problems with this box but I dont think the ones you mention are on that list.

I'm also running a 8300HD into a Toshiba 57" RP.
I haven't had the problems you are experiencing but there have been times where the box has rebooted itself. Although very few.
Considering the box has been replaced a few times the problem appears to be with your television "shaking hands" with the box via HDMI.
Is the display format in the 8300 set to auto HDMI?
In reality, I really can't tell any difference between HDMI and component on my television. The primary reason I'm using the HDMI cable is to simplify the wiring. That and the fact I won the HDMI cable here at AH a while back.
The solution may be as simple as switching to component cables. I suspect the display picture quality on your Mitsu is similar to that of my Toshiba, and you may not be able to tell a difference.
