I've been scanning a lot of info but somehow it is just not 'clicking' with the gray matter (or lack thereof) in the cranium!!!
Just replaced my Scientific Atlanta cable box with a newer SA 8300HD DVR. There is a DVI output on the box that would facilitate a connection to my plasma TV. Should I do this and if so, what is the specific advantage over my current connections?
I'm currently using three sets of component video cables (for plasma, DVD, and cable box) all routed through a Yammy RX-V2400. Does the DVI replace the component cable?
Appreciate any help...

P.S. In my search I noticed that DVI connectors start at about $70.00 (US); does that sound about right?
