S-Video Wires

Does the type of S-Video wire determine the quality of the video? A cheapo vs expensive.

I have an Apex (go ahead, laugh) DVD player and am connecting it to my Philips 27" TV via a cheap S-Video connection. In dark scenes, the image has horizontal bands of alternating lighter and darker areas. Could this be the result of my S-Video link or the other cheap equipment that I am using?

it's pretty easy to check. your nearest Walmart will probably have either RCA or Phillips Gold s-video cables for about fifteen bucks. these are well-made, well-shielded and can make quite a difference in picture quality.
