S/PDIF vs 'subwoofer cable'

If I spend a given amount of $ on an S/PDIF cable for a subwoofer, and then spend the same amount on a 'subwoofer' cable, supposedly made specifically for a subwoofer, will there be any audible difference?

No. Coaxial digital cable can be used interchangeably for analog audio and composite video, however analog cables cannot always be used for coaxial digital. If you haven't purchased the cable yet however, you should be able to get a comparable analog cable for less than a digital one in most cases. How long of a cable? You can also use RG-6 or RG-59 with RCA terminations.

Digital electrical cables and subwoofer cables need to carry different types of signal. The digital electrical cable must carry signals which are higher in frequency than the audible range, this is why you can use video cable as a make-shift digital cable. I don't think the sub cable has to carry much high frequency signal. A good shielded RCA audio cable should do the job perfectly well unless the cable needs to be lengthy.

A sub cable is basically just an analog audio cable. Any analog cable will do. Coaxial digital and composite video are built to the same specs; there is basically no difference between them.
