rxv 2500 - Component overlay question

I have a dvd player (only thing using component video) and when it is off I get the volume gui (you know those little bars or exclamation points that grow as it get louder) with the yamaha background. Once the dvd player comes on I lose this. I can get the yamaha menu's to show up just no volume bar. This doesn't happen on any of my other inputs (but they are either s-video or composite). I am doing component out to my TV. Is this expected or is there some setting I missed somewhere?

I too had a 2500 and did not experience this however, I did not have any component in/ or component out as my old crt only has s-vid. I have read, about a yr ago on this site, when the 2500 was a new mod that many users found this to be an issue w/ 2500. For some reason it will display all osd except volume via monitor component out. I think this is normal. A quirk that the people at Yam need to fix if they have not already w/ the new 2600. Make sure you try all eq settings...that is the front, flat, and natural eq curves. This makes a big difference. For me it was the front eq setting via ypao that sounded best.

The 2500 will not do semi-osd over a progressive connection. So for example if you have component cables connected, you would get it over 480i but not 480p (or any other resolution that is progressive).
